Kerry Coddett

Kerry Coddett is a Caribbean-American writer, actress, and stand-up comedian from Brooklyn. She’s a staff writer and recurring guest star on Showtime’s new show Flatbush Misdemeanors. Touted as “inimitable” by The Huffington Post and as “a rising star” by The Interrobang, Kerry appears on season 2 of Ramy on Hulu and is a core cast member of the newThe Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show on Netflix. She was a staff writer on Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas, which was produced by John Oliver and aired on HBO. Kerry can also be seen on E!’s Funny Dance Show, HBO’s Crashing, TruTV’s Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, and BET's The Rundown with Robin Thede. She was a regular on Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, a recurring cast member on MTV’s Joking Off, and she’s also appeared on TruTV’s Comedy Knockout.

Kerry often uses her comedic platform to bring awareness to the issues that concern her. For The Atlantic, she wrote the first historical account of SNL’s lack of diversity that helped serve as the impetus for the show’s hiring of three new black comediennes. To challenge racial biases perpetuated by the media, Kerry penned an article for The Huffington Post called “White on White Crime” that went viral. She also organized a series of comedy shows at New York City homeless shelters to share the gift of laughter during the holiday season.

Before turning to comedy as her outlet, Kerry was a fashion designer and stylist who made custom designs for Jay-Z. At 19, Kerry graduated cum laude from CUNY Baruch College with a B.A. in Psychology and English.
